Ag 3 (Agriculture Mechanics)

-Must have taken Ag 1 or have permission from Mr. Dotson

Students will engage in the mechanical principles utilized in animal and plant production systems. They will learn electrical theory, design, wiring, hydraulic and pneumatic theory, along with metallurgy in relation to hot and cold metals. Students will apply knowledge of sheet metal fabrication applicable to the agricultural industry along with identify, diagnose, and maintain small air-cooled engines. Throughout the course, students will learn critical components of site and personal safety as well as communication and leadership skills.

  • Timber Cruising (DBH, Log Height, BF, and price estimation)

    Tree ID (using the official list from Ohio FFA)

  • 5 Days - Plumbing (measuring and cutting, sprinkler project)

    20 Days - Welding (padding a plate, hitch cover, rebar project)

    10 Days - Oxy-Acetylene (start and turn off safely/proper use, cutting a plate)

    20 Days - Small Engine (trouble shooting)

    10 Days - Electrical (intro to reading diagrams, 2 way switch, 3 way switch)

    20 Days - Framing (16” on center, mock wall, driving nails and screws)
