Ag 2 (Plant and Animal Science)
-Must have taken Ag 1 or have permission from Mr. Dotson
Students will apply knowledge of animal and plant science to the agriculture industry. They will be introduced to the value of production animals relative to the agricultural marketplace. Students will engage in animal classification and selection, body systems, along with animal welfare and behavior in relation to the production of animals. Students will learn principles of plant anatomy and physiology, and the role of nutrition, deficiencies and growing environment on plant production. Throughout the course, business principles and professional skills will be examined.

Anatomy of Animals
Day 1 - Anatomy of Animals PowerPoint (students write terms, turn in at end of period)
Day 2 - Lecture from PowerPoint, answer questions at end of PowerPoint
Day 3 - Lecture from PowerPoint, answer questions at end of PowerPoint
Day 4 - Split students into groups to go over and study parts of animal posters (using Pig Anatomy - Skeletal and Parts)
Day 5 - Pass out pig dissection cardstock cutouts and directions, students start cutting and gluing their individual projects.
Day 6 - Students review parts of animals using posters and finish pig dissection cutouts
Day 7 - Students review parts of animals using posters and finish pig dissection cutouts
Day 8 - Students review parts of animals using posters and finish pig dissection cutouts
Day 9 - In class, go through a mock dissection using the cardstock pig dissection cutouts, ask for questions, prep for lab
Day 10 - Watch pig dissection video (oral cavity and abdominal cavity)
Day 11 - Watch pig dissection video (chest cavity)
Day 12 - Shop set-up for dissection's and start with oral cavity
Day 13 - Abdominal cavity
Day 14 - Chest cavity
Day 15 - Review
