Ag 1 (Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources)

This first course in the career field is an introduction to Agricultural and Environmental Systems. Students will be introduced to the scope of the Agricultural and Environmental Systems career field. They will examine principles of food science, natural resource management, animal science & management, plant & horticultural science, power technology and bioscience. Students will examine the FFA organization and Supervised Agricultural Experience programs. Throughout the course, students will develop communication, leadership and business skills essential to the agriculture industry.

  • Day 1 - Daily Schedule (Ag 1), Introductory Letter to Parents and Students, Syllabus, Classroom Discipline Policy and Expectations, Google Classroom

    Day 2 - Log into and intro to theAET.com, fill out profile, register for class, sign up for committees, World Food Supply PPT (is Ag still relevant?)

    Day 3 - FFA theme for the year, shirt designs, trips and opportunities in FFA, World Food Supply PPT (is Ag still relevant?)

    Day 4 - (optional) Start SAEs in AET and explain the three circle model of Ag Education

  • Day 1 - Intro to Soils (Soil Properties PPT) and work on shirt designs

    Day 2 - Soil Suspension Lab

    Day 3 - Soil Formation Process PPT and Soil Triangle worksheet

    Day 4 - How to Texture Soil Lab

    Day 5 - Soil Card walkthrough and intro to contest (flashcards for part one on back of card)

    Day 6 - Pit 1 Lab

    Day 7 - Go over results and explain my pit is evaluated as it is

    Day 8 - Practice Soil Card 1 and 2 (through front and 1. Soil Erosion Remediations on back)

    Day 9 - Quiz 1 over Soil Erosion Remediations

    Day 10 - On Your Own (OYO), Journal in AET, binder check (daily schedule, syllabus, soil suspension lab, soil triangle worksheet, flashcards, 3 pit cards, quiz)

    Day 11 - Soil Card flashcards for part two on the back of card

  • Intro to Parliamentary Procedure (main motion and seconding a motion, how to seek recognition from the chair)

    How to run a meeting and 6 of the more common abilities (main motion, amendment, point of order, question of privilege, division of assembly/house, adjourn)

    Opening Ceremonies (assign parts and memorize the all members in unison part)

    Parliamentary Procedure Multiple Choice Tests Bank of Questions (10 questions a week assigned - 15 a week extra available for team members)
